A Sense of Place is an ambitious flagship exchange programme launched by Chisenhale Gallery for three secondary schools in Tower Hamlets and for artists with specific interests in collectivism, collaboration and direct engagement with social and cultural contexts. The programme will explore models of cross curriculum and cross-school learning, new methods for artists to work in collaboration with teachers and develop approaches to meet the cultural offer.
As a theme, A Sense of Place will focus on exploring the changing state of the East End, in particular Tower Hamlets’ relationship to the Olympics 2012 and in so doing develop new methods to engage local schools with local cultural facilities.
